Five steps, readable from across the room.

Only clean costumes go on the rack. Wash it, let it dry, and put it in a bag with the size written on the outside.
Every item needs a size you can read from three feet away: a tag, a piece of tape, a safety pin note. No guessing.
Write what you are giving (size and costume) and what you are looking for. Clip it to the hanger or drop it in the box.
One in, one out. Try it on your kid before you leave the rack if you can. Drop your slip in the box so the teacher can match sizes.
Wrong size, wrong vibe, kid changed their mind: bring it back to the rack so the next family can grab it.

If you would not hand it to a friend's kid as-is, wash it first.
Leave the toy swords at home: the Neon Demon Hunter's toy sword is a great build, but most schools ban anything weapon-shaped, even plastic.
If it snags, pokes, or will not close, it is not rack-ready. Fix it or skip it.
No label, no rack. A strip of masking tape and a marker is enough.
The rack only works if it stays stocked. Take a costume, leave a costume.
Swaps are free and first-come. The sign-up sheet is for matching sizes, not for claiming dibs.
Shared headwear is how lice travels. Check the seams for nits before it goes on the rack, or skip the headwear and swap the rest of the costume.
