- Cardboard for two hats, 2 sheets (make: from shipping boxes)
- Bandanas, 2 (buy: dollar store)
- Brown paper bags for chaps, 2 (own)
- Rope or twine, 1 coil (buy: hardware store)
- Scissors, 1 pair
- Tape, 1 roll
Steps
- Cut two cowboy hats from cardboard: wide brims with folded-up sides, taped at the seam.
- Tie a bandana around each neck and coil the rope over one shoulder.
- Cut chaps from the paper bags and tape them over the jeans.
- Safety: round all cardboard edges, and keep the rope coiled, never looped around anyone.
- Tip your hats to everyone you greet. The hat tip is the whole personality.

Paint them brown and add a darker band around the crown. In evening light, painted cardboard passes.
