DIY this week: ~$5-10, 40 min
- Cut fringe strips from the crepe paper and glue them in overlapping rows over the whole box.
- Cut arm and head holes in the box, with the opening at the bottom for candy.
- Fill the box with wrapped candy before sealing the bottom flap loosely.
- Hand out candy from inside the costume all night.
Tip: let kids pull one candy each from the bottom flap. You become the party game.

- Cardboard box, 1 large (make: from a shipping box)
- Crepe paper in rainbow colors, 6 rolls (buy: dollar store)
- Wrapped candy, 2 bags (buy: grocery store)
- String for hanging strips, 1 roll (own)
- Tape, 1 roll
- Scissors, 1 pair
Steps
- Cut fringe strips from the crepe paper and glue them in overlapping rows over the whole box.
- Cut arm and head holes in the box, with the opening at the bottom for candy.

How do you keep the fringe from tearing?
Glue each fringe row at the top edge only, overlapping downward. Rows glued flat across tear when you move.

Double-wall cardboard survives a night. Single-ply boxes crush by midnight.
