DIY Jester Villainess Costume: 45-Min Paint Build
A red-and-black split outfit with an exaggerated painted grin and pigtails tied in ribbons. Half prankster, half villain. Forty-five minutes, easy: a red top, black bottoms, and red and black face paint. The grin should stretch wider than your real smile; that is what makes it villainous.

DIY this week: 45 min of hands-on work
- Red top, 1 (own, or buy: thrift store)
- Black bottoms, 1 pair (own)
- Red and black non-toxic face paint, 1 set (buy: toy store)
- Ribbon for pigtails, 2 pieces (buy: craft store)
- Black eyeliner, 1 (own, or buy: drugstore)
- Hair ties, 2 (own)
Tip: paint one nail red and one black on each hand. The tiny split detail photographs great.
Steps
- Wear the red top with the black bottoms, splitting red to one side and black to the other where you can.
- Tie hair into two high pigtails and knot a ribbon around each.
- Paint a playful grin: red lips stretched wide with black diamond accents at the outer eyes.
- Safety: keep face paint clear of the eyes, and remove it with gentle soap and water before bed.
- Line the eyes heavily with black eyeliner.
- Optional pro finish: paint one nail red and one black on each hand. The tiny split detail photographs great.

Common questions
How do I get the split-color look without sewing?
Wear a red top with black bottoms, then add a black glove on one hand and a red ribbon on the other side. Asymmetry reads as split.
Will the face paint last all night?
Set it with a light dusting of translucent powder. Bring the eyeliner for touch-ups; the grin is the part people photograph.
