You need
- 1 large cardboard box, about 24x24 inches flat (make: from home)
- Pink paint, 1 small bottle (buy: craft store)
- Felt sprinkles, 12 to 15 small pieces, or sticker sprinkles (buy: craft store)
- Ribbon or string, 4 feet (make: from home)
- Scissors, 1 pair and glue, 1 bottle
Steps
- Draw the donut circle on the cardboard first and check it fits over the head: outer circle about 30 inches across, center hole about 12 inches. Cut the center hole SMALLER than the head first, then widen. Cardboard cut away cannot be put back, and a too-big hole slides off the shoulders.
- Paint it pink. Let dry.
- Glue on felt sprinkles or stickers in bright colors.
- Attach ribbon to the top so you can wear it like a sandwich board.
- Optional pro finish: paint a thin brown ring around the center hole for the fried-dough edge. The brown edge is what separates donut from pink life preserver.

- Hang it from two ribbon straps like a sandwich board at waist height, not neck height. Waist height clears doorways and lets the arms move.
- How long does the pink paint take to dry?
- About 1 hour for acrylic on cardboard. Paint the night before: wearing it damp smears pink onto every hug.
