- Lay the red sweatsuit flat and plan the web lines first: one center line down the chest.
- Stick short strips of black electrical tape across the chest in a web grid.
- Cut two large white eye lenses from the white paper with the scissors.
- Cut blue felt rectangles and tape them around the sleeves and pant cuffs as hero accents.
- Pull on the red sweatsuit, put on the eye headband, and strike the web-shooter pose: one hand up, fingers spread.
Tip: run short black tape strips down the outside of each sleeve as web lines, so the arms match the chest.
You need
- Red sweatsuit or red shirt and pants, 1 set (own, or buy: clothing store)
- Blue craft felt for sleeve and boot accents, 1 sheet 9x12 inches (buy: craft store, blue paper works too)
- Black electrical tape for web lines, 1 roll (buy: hardware store)
- White paper or cardstock for eye lenses, 1 sheet (make: cut from paper)
- Plain headband, 1 (buy: dollar store)
- Scissors, 1 pair
Steps
- Lay the red sweatsuit flat and plan the web lines first: one center line down the chest, then fan lines out to each side.
- Stick short strips of black electrical tape across the chest in a web grid, pressing each strip flat so it survives the night.
- Cut two large white eye lenses from the white paper with the scissors. Hold them against the face to check the size before attaching.
- Safety: tape the paper eyes to the plain headband, never tape paper to skin around the eyes. Skip the eyes for very young kids and draw web lines with face paint instead. (CPSC Halloween safety tips)

Common questions
- Will the tape ruin the sweatsuit?
- Black electrical tape peels off most sweatshirt fabric cleanly. Test a hidden spot first, and pull it off slowly after the night.
- My kid will not wear a headband. What then?
- Skip the paper eyes and draw simple black web lines on the cheeks with non-toxic face paint. The red suit plus web lines reads as the hero on its own.
