You need

• 1 Hawaiian shirt (buy: thrift store, or use your own)
• 1 fanny pack (own, or buy: thrift store)
• 1 plush dinosaur tail (buy: toy store or online)
• 1 toy camera, optional (own)
• 1 pair sunglasses, optional (own)

Steps

1. Pull the Hawaiian shirt and fanny pack from the closet.
2. Clip or pin the plush tail to your waistband at the back.
3. Hang the toy camera around your neck.
4. Put on the sunglasses, ask strangers to take your picture, and complain about the meteor.
5. Optional pro finish: tuck a folded paper map into the fanny pack and let it stick out. The map is the tourist detail people laugh at.

How do you attach the tail so it stays on?

Clip or pin it to the waistband at the back center with two safety pins through the tail's seam. One pin spins; two pins hold.

How do you make it read as dinosaur, not just tourist?

The tail does all the work. Without it you are just a tourist: wear it high on the waistband where people see it from the side.
