You need

• Red t-shirt, 1 (own)
• Tan or beige foam pool noodle, 1 (buy: dollar store)
• Yellow fabric paint for mustard, 1 bottle (buy: craft store)
• Safety pins or fabric glue, 1 pack (buy: craft store)

Steps

1. Put on the red shirt. You are the hot dog.
2. Cut the pool noodle in half lengthwise to make two bun halves.
3. Paint a thin mustard squiggle down one bun half with the yellow fabric paint. You can always add more paint, but you cannot remove it, so start thin. Let dry fully before attaching.
4. Attach the bun halves to your sides with safety pins or fabric glue, one on each side.
5. Optional pro finish: add a white paper vendor hat. The hat turns 'person in a bun' into a ballpark vendor, and vendors get offered tips.

Common questions

How do you make the bun halves stay on the shoulders?

Pin each half at the shoulder seam with two safety pins from inside the shirt. They sit like epaulettes, stable all night, no glue on skin.

Ketchup and mustard or just mustard?

Both, in zigzag squiggles. The zigzag is the visual shorthand for condiments, straight lines read as stripes, zigzags read as sauce.
