DIY this week: ~$3-8, 30 min
- Assign each kid a color and a matching felt badge shape.
- Cut pup ears from the brown felt and glue them to each headband.
- Glue the badge to the front of each colored shirt.
- Line the pups up by color for the team photo.
Tip: give each pup a toy tool matching their badge. The props make the roles obvious.
You need
- T-shirts in assigned colors, 1 per kid (own, or buy: thrift store)
- Felt for pup badges, 1 sheet per color (buy: craft store)
- Headbands, 1 per kid (buy: dollar store)
- Brown felt for ears, 1 sheet per kid (buy: craft store)
- Fabric glue, 1 bottle (buy: craft store)
- Safety pins, 4 per kid (buy: dollar store)
- Scissors, 1 pair
Steps
- Assign each kid a color and a matching felt badge shape.
- Cut pup ears from the brown felt and glue them to each headband.
- Glue the badge to the front of each colored shirt.

- Optional pro finish: give each pup a toy tool matching their badge. The props make the roles obvious.
Common questions
How do you handle a kid who will not wear the headband?
Glue the ears to the shirt collar instead. Ears on the shoulders still read as pup.
What if the kids argue over colors?
Assign colors by drawing from a hat. The draw itself becomes part of the game.
